One10 Men’s Counseling

Anxiety counseling for men in Port Orange

If worry keeps you up at night or wears you down during the day, we’ll work on it together.

Sessions are $125 for 50 minutes, by appointment. I’m a male counselor who works with men, teenage boys, and young adults.

If you’re in crisis right now, call or text 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, any time.

The 3 a.m. Sheet

It’s a sheet you keep by your bed for the worries that wake you up at night. You write them down, then read the sheet again in the daylight.

This field is required.

I’ll email you the PDF, plus a few short notes over the next three weeks. You can unsubscribe at any time, and I’ll never share your email.

What’s in the guide

When a worry wakes you up, you write it down in one line and decide whether it’s something to do tomorrow, something to talk over with someone, or something you can’t do anything about. The next day, at a time you choose, you read it again and see whether it looks bigger or smaller than it did at night.

You don’t need to book a session to use it.

What anxiety can look like

Waking up at night

You may fall asleep fine, then wake up at 3 a.m. with your heart pounding.

Worry that moves around

The worry can jump from work to money to your health, and then back to work.

Quiet moments

Worry may be at its worst during quiet times, like the drive home from work.

No clear reason

Your doctor may say everything looks normal, but the feeling doesn’t go away. It can be hard to talk about a feeling that has no clear reason.

Why men wait to get help

“The last counselor wasn’t right.” Sometimes it’s the wrong approach, and sometimes it’s the wrong person. If you’ve had a bad experience, tell me about it.

“I should be able to figure this out myself.” You may have been trying on your own for a long time. Counseling gives you someone to work through it with.

How I work

Practical steps

We’ll look at what sets off your anxiety and what you feel in your body first, and you’ll practice what to do when it starts.

Changing what isn’t helping

If something I suggest doesn’t work for you, tell me, and we’ll try something else.

Building on what you already do

If you’ve been exercising, cutting back on drinking, or making other changes, we’ll keep what’s helping and add to it.

Worries that keep coming back

If the same worry comes up from one week to the next, I’ll point it out, and we’ll spend more time on it.

What happens in your first session

When you get to 3959 South Nova Road, come in through the two doors in the center of the second building. You’ll see chairs straight ahead. You don’t need to check in with anyone. Have a seat, and I’ll come out to get you.

I’ll ask when the anxiety started. If you can’t point to a day, a rough idea is enough.

I’ll ask what it does to your body, because that’s often easier to describe than what’s going on in your mind.

We’ll go over what you’ve already tried. If you’ve talked to a doctor about it, tell me what they said.

Near the end, I’ll tell you what I noticed, and we’ll talk about where to go from here.

Common questions

Do I need medication?

I don’t prescribe medication. If I think it’s worth asking about, I’ll tell you, and you can talk it over with your doctor.

What if I can’t say what’s wrong?

You don’t need the words for it before you call. We can start with what you’ve noticed.

What does it cost?

A 50-minute session is $125. I don’t bill insurance, so you pay me directly at each session by card, cash, or check.

What if I have to cancel?

Please give me at least 24 hours’ notice. If you cancel with less notice than that, you’ll be charged the full session fee.

Is this Christian counseling?

Following Jesus shapes how I see people and how I counsel. Every man is welcome here, whatever he believes.
